The Other: Our shower had no hot water, but staff responded quickly and had hot water flowing in under 15 minutes. This resort seems to be situated on the one short portion of rocky shoreline in this area.
A couple minutes walk up the road (go right when facing the street) there is a lovely public beach, Kai Bae. There is sandy beach to the right (facing the sea) which you can get to at low tide. There is NO sandy beach here all rocky coral bits. It never got as cool as we wanted, but was adequate. Sea kayaks available ( but sea too rough to use when we were there.) Within walking distance of several restaurants and cafes, and of course, 7-Eleven. Huge bean bags under cabanas looking out to sea. The Good: peaceful aesthetic, beautiful design with tall doors and lovely pools. We found this hotel to have a very calm, peaceful aesthetic and pleasant, attentive staff. Our family traveled with friends including young children. I can really recommend this Hotel, if you are going to KohChang, which is for years now my favourite island in Thailand, because it´s not so crowded like other places in Thailand.… All the staff (reception/restaurant/spa/pool/room cleaning) is very friendly and tries to fullfil your wishes! Therefore one week after homecoming, next trip to AWA RESORT in around 6 months is already booked. The hotel is centrally located on Kai Bae Beach, so you can reach everything (shops, restaurants, bars, massage-saloons, etc.) by walking only a few steps. I personally prefer to enjoy the massage outside directly on the beach or on the terrace of the SPA. Additionally I can recommend the SPA, where you can choose between indoor and outdoor treatments. The restaurant (breakfast/lunch/dinner) has a very good location inside the hotel-complex, including view to the sea. The pool called "The River" is because of it´s size and location excellent. The hotel has a very modern style and is mainly in white colour, which gives a very elegant atmosphere. In may 2023 I enjoyed my 10th stay at AWA RESORT since 2015.
